Outcrop, Residence in Xamoudochori, Chania
Like a modest protrusion of the land, this 95 sq.m. residence in Xamoudohori, Chania, was designed for two people as a private residence that retains the feeling of a retreat in the Cretan countryside. The architectural intent was to translate the primal logic of the shepherd’s stone hut into a contemporary, quiet, and minimal dwelling.
This is a building that doesn’t seek attention through excess, but through harmony with its natural surroundings. Local stone, timber, and natural materials engage in dialogue with the Cretan land. Clean lines and raw textures reinforce the connection with the topography, while the outdoor spaces unfold naturally along the gentle slope.
The house offers a sense of seclusion and calm — a place to live “within nature”.
